A day with e&s

As part of the ACFA 2026 Tour, our group was lucky enough to be invited to spend the day with e&s. From our base in Brescia, we were picked up and transported the fairly short distance to the shores of Lake Garda, specifically to the historic town of Sirmione.

Being a holiday weekend in Italy, the town was alive with the hustle and bustle of visitors but we had a pre-booked tour of the stunning Castello Scaligero di Sirmione so we skipped past the queue into the cool of the internal courtyard.

Castello Scaligero di Sirmione is a striking medieval fortress located at the entrance of the Sirmione peninsula on Lake Garda in northern Italy. Built in the 13th century by the Scaliger family, who ruled Verona, the castle is renowned for its well-preserved walls, towers, and rare fortified harbor. Surrounded by clear blue waters, it creates a dramatic and picturesque scene that attracts visitors from around the world. Today, the castle stands as both a historical landmark and a symbol of the region’s rich past, offering panoramic views and a glimpse into medieval military architecture.

As part of our tour we climbed to the top of the parapet and we were able to walk around the top of the external walls, enjoying the expansive views across Lake Garda.

Lake Garda (Lago di Garda) is Italy’s largest lake, nestled in Northern Italy between Milan and Venice, known for its stunning mix of Alpine scenery and Mediterranean climate, supporting olive groves, citrus trees, and vineyards. It’s a popular holiday spot with diverse towns offering activities from hiking, biking, and water sports to exploring castles, Roman ruins, and lakeside villages.

Following our castle tour, we walked the short distance to our lunch destination – La Speranzina, a Michelin-starred restaurant located right on the water’s edge. We were hosted by Rob Sinclair and a number of the e&s executive team as well as the fabulous Kate Scanlon who was accompanying the tour. The spectacular day was matched with a spectacular menu and complimented with matching wines, finishing with coffee.

It was an incredible day that I’m sure our tour group will remember for a long time.
