A day with Latho Components + Cabinetti Panels

To kick-start our sponsor factory visits, we hopped on a bus to travel out to Paderno del Grappa, in the province of Treviso to visit our sponsor Latho Components together with Mark & Kelly Mastroianni from Cabinetti Panels who accompanied us on the tour.

Located on a plateau at the base of Mount Grappa, within the Venetian Prealps mountain range, Paderno del Grappa is approximately 70kms north of Venice. The town and region have a rich history of innovation and industry – Latho Components and its parent company Gizia have been producing surfaces and components for the furniture and interior design industry here for more than 50 years. 100% Made in Italy, Latho’s products are known for their quality and reliability and for being produced with a focus on craftsmanship and care.

After a welcome coffee and some delicious pastries, we headed upstairs to the conference room for a background presentation on the history of the company focusing on the business’ core products and emphasising its Italian-family roots.

Shortly afterwards, our tour group spent valuable time in the showroom, exploring the wide range of solid wood and veneer panels produced by the company. We then accompanied Beatrice and Nicolo (grandchildren of the founder and who work in key positions within the company today) through the factory where we were able to see the full production from raw products (which can take up to six months just drying under cover before they can be worked with) through to milling and preparation, and then to become the range of panels stocked by Latho today.

It was a valuable opportunity for our group to understand more fully the application of the products as well as the various options available for a wide range of situations.

Following our factory tour, we hopped on the bus again to make the short journey to Asolo (the small town where the family lives today) to the most amazing restaurant location. We were treated to a lunch of local delicacies, including many featuring white asparagus which the region is known for, finishing with a delicious tiramisu.

After lunch we enjoyed a short walk around Asolo, which was absolutely beautiful, to take photos and even squeeze in some shopping!
