A day with UNOX Casa + UNOX Australia
For our second day of factory visits, we travelled south to the home of UNOX Casa. The company’s headquarters are located in Cadoneghe in the province of Padua, approximately 50kms from Venice. Located on the Brenta River, Cadoneghe is known for its rich history, delicious cuisine, ancient buildings and extraordinary landscape.
UNOX was founded in 1990 by Enrico Franzolin who had a passion to create innovative and inherently smart products that met the needs of serious cooks. Immediately successful in the professional cooking world, today UNOX Casa continues this dedication to Italian craftsmanship, technology and design with a range of restaurant-quality ovens available for the high-end residential market.

Our visit to UNOX’s facilities started with coffee and delicious in-house-made pastries before we split into two groups for the factory tours. One group stayed at the headquarters and enjoyed a company presentation which provided a more in-depth look at the business and its worldwide operation. The other group toured three production facilities, having the opportunity to take a behind-the-scenes look at some of the intricate componentry that goes into making these world-class ovens.

We then split into two new groups for the main event – the cooking demonstration! It’s one thing to be told how great these ovens are but it’s quite another to be shown first-hand with top chefs preparing a meal as they demonstrate the functionality of the appliance. The chefs were extremely knowledgeable and able to answer many of our technical questions, all while preparing and serving a lovely three-course lunch.

Finally, the group came together for a technical presentation. This was almost the most important part of the day as it helped our tour group understand the specification options and requirements of the oven with a technical expert on hand to answer all our questions. We were also able to see a number of examples of the ovens installed insitu to showcase the various options for specification and installation.

We finished the day with a short bus trip back to our hotel and a short walk to the local restaurant for our farewell dinner.
