Contempo & Co: Australian Craftsmanship & Manufacturing
In 2026 Contempo & Co celebrates 22 years of designing and manufacturing premium Australian-made furniture for the hospitality industry. Specialising in custom banquette seating, tables, chairs, stools, benches and bespoke lighting, the company has earned a reputation for combining exceptional craftsmanship with practical, enduring design.
Manufacturing from its facility in Minto, south-west Sydney, Contempo & Co offers the advantages of local production, quality control and flexibility. In-house capabilities including metal fabrication, metal spinning, timber machining and French polishing enable the team to deliver tailored furniture solutions for every project.
Working closely with architects, interior designers and venue owners, Contempo & Co customises its extensive product range to suit each client’s vision while meeting the demands of commercial environments.
While the Contempo & Co brand celebrates 22 years, its manufacturing heritage extends more than 80 years. Its origins trace back to Dolan Spinning, established in Sydney in 1946 by Reg Dolan. Across three generations, the Dolan family built extensive expertise in metal spinning, fabrication and furniture manufacturing, providing the foundation for today’s business.
This legacy is reflected in an impressive portfolio of projects including Opera Bar, a’Mare at Crown Sydney, Elysium Noosa, Maison Bâtard Melbourne, The Shack Byron Bay, Barangaroo House, Hugo’s Manly, Sails on Lavender Bay, Salty’s Bondi Beach, Treehouse Byron Bay and Armorica Grande Brasserie (pictured below – photography Jennifer Soo).
Combining generations of manufacturing expertise with contemporary design, Contempo & Co continues to create locally made furniture that enhances Australia’s leading hospitality destinations.
