LIT Lighting Design Awards 2025

The LIT Lighting Design Awards takes pride in acknowledging the outstanding contributions in three major categories: Architectural Lighting Design, Lighting Product Design and Entertainment Lighting Design.

Entries are received from all over the world and judges evaluate each project, rewarding the most pioneering and ground-breaking lighting designs. The 2025 major winners are:

Architectural Lighting Design: Memorial Brumadinho

Location: Brazil

Lighting Design/Product Company: Atiaia Lighting Design

Designers: Mariana Novaes (lead), Pedro Ferreira (lighting design assistant), Barbara Oliveira & Elisa Campos (interns)

Architect/Interior Designer: Gustavo Penna Arquiteto e Associados

Photo credits: Pedro Mascaro and Leo Drumond/Nitro

The project commemorates the memory of 272 victims of the 2019 collapse of a dam at Corrego do Feijao Mine, owned by the Vale S.A. mining company. Light became an integral part of this project to create an immersive yet respectful and sensitive experience, guiding the journey of the visitor and representing the victims who passed away.

The project includes an entrance pavilion, grove, outdoor living areas, pathways to a sculpture/monument, reflecting pool, Memory and Testimony exhibition rooms, and space dedicated to the dignified storage of the remains. Of note, the lighting design reinforces meaningful messages within the architectural project and includes 272 ipe flowers and 272 stars in the lake – one for each victim.

Lighting Product Design: Amphora

Location: Argentina

Lighting Design/Product Company: One to One by Martin Doller

Designers: Martin Doller (lead) and Jon Peer Bouwer

Interior Design: ARRCC

The piece was inspired by the idea of seed pod with a vessel of light created from solid bronze capable of being adjusted to cast its light in any direction. It can be displayed as a single Amphora or as a collection, highlighting its design versatility and scalability which makes it suitable for intimate residential settings as well as grand commercial spaces.

Each pod can be oriented to cast illumination to precise areas with articulated joints that are adjustable. The bronze element features the designer’s signature patina finish, with a rich textural depth created by a controlled oxidation process, for a timeless aesthetic.

Entertainment Lighting Design: Arc ZERO: Eclipse

Location: South Korea

Lighting Design/Product Company: Studio Jt Pty Ltd

Designer: James Tapscott

Other credits: Project Curation by Jane Lee; Project Management by The Ton

A simply sublime experience of space, water, light and atmosphere. Arc ZERO: Eclipse is an 8-metre polished stainless-steel half ring which rises from a custom reflecting pool – its circular form is completed in the reflection on the water. At night, the ring floats impossibly in space with the illuminated mist shifting with the wind and humidity and emphasising a visual dialogue with the surrounding landscape.

Installed within a rooftop garden of a mixed-use development, the lighting installation is intended to promote self-reflection and deep immersion. This iteration is part of the Arc ZERO series, recently honoured with a CODA Award.
